Quebecor World Logistics NEWS FLASH - Issue #209
Interstate 5 Reopens To Truck Traffic In Washington State

December 7, 2007

Interstate 5 has reopened one lane for both north and south bound truck travel after working around the clock to drain flooded portions of the only major highway stretching the gap between Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. Severe flooding in the Seattle area caused the Chehalis River to overflow, swamping segments of the Interstate on Monday and forcing Over-the-Road carriers to take up to 200 miles of detour, one way. All Quebecor World Logistics’ carriers are out for delivery, however, trucks traveling from our Portland, OR Consolidation Facility north towards Seattle, WA may experience intermittent delays due to congestion formed from only one lane open for travel.

State officials are hoping to open all lanes of Interstate 5 between Portland, OR and Seattle, WA sometime today which will help to further alleviate traffic in the area, but warn travelers to expect stretches of highway covered in mud.

QWL remains committed to doing everything within our power to minimize delays to and from the affected areas.
