Quebecor World Logistics NEWS FLASH – Issue #211
West Braces For Intense Storm Front / Michigan Experiencing Phone Outage
January 4, 2008
Western Storm Front
Another significant storm front is developing in the West and distribution delays are expected as the storm is currently affecting travel from Washington State down to Arizona with wind gusts up to 150 miles per hour and over eight inches of rain having already fallen in the San Francisco area. Two to twelve feet of snow is possible spanning from the Cascades in Washington down to the Sierra Nevada Mountains throughout northern California and east into Nevada.
Travel in these areas is being described as treacherous with the powerful wind picking up the significant snowfall, causing hazardous whiteout conditions for drivers in these areas. Travel in the Siskiyou and Sierra Nevada Mountain areas is expected to be slowed dramatically as the storm front works its way through.
Quebecor World Logistics’ carriers are all out for delivery, but some mail, newspaper insert and newsstand distribution may experience increased travel time as conditions worsen throughout the West. QWL will continue to monitor the storm and make every effort to efficiently navigate this winter weather in order to maintain punctual delivery to and from these affected areas.
Michigan Experiencing Phone Outage
The state of Michigan is currently experiencing a phone outage, which is also affecting email accessibility and making communication difficult with some Quebecor World facilities.
